SANDUSKY -- You may not be thinking about Halloween yet, but Cedar Point sure is. In just a few weeks, a thick fog will hover and creatures will lurk around every corner of the Sandusky scream park.

Cedar Point has announced several new freaky attractions ready to curdle your blood for the 16th annual HalloWeekends, which opens for the spooky season on Friday, Sept. 14.

Both of the new haunts -- Eden Musee and Cut Throat Cove -- are located at the very back end of the park.

Park officials say Eden Musee will be a creepy throwback to the traditional wax museum that was once located along Cedar Point's main midway in the 1960s and '70s. It's an indoor haunted attraction that is currently under construction within the Mean Streak roller coaster's infield.

The second new haunted attraction, Cut Throat Cove, is an outdoor nautical-themed fright zone located near the Maverick roller coaster. This scarefest will feature pirates, sunken ships and creatures lurking around every corner waiting to pounce on their victims.

Cut Throat Cove will be similarly themed to the Terror Island attraction, which was eliminated at the end of last season to make room for Dinosaurs Alive.

Happy Jack's Toy Factory will not be returning to HalloWeekends this upcoming season either. It had been housed inside the Disaster Transport building, which is currently being demolished to make room for the new roller coaster for 2013 -- Gatekeeper.

In total, HalloWeekends features 10 haunted attractions, including many that are returning for the 2012 season. Back for more screams are indoor haunted houses Club Blood, Eternity Infirmary and G.A. Boeckling's Eerie Estate, along with outdoor fright zones Blood on the Bayou, Screamworks, Fear Faire, CarnEvil and CornStalkers.

In addition to the new haunted attractions, Cedar Point will scream into HalloWeekends with a new live show -- Skeleton Crew. It will bring pulse-pounding Halloween thrills three times a night on the Luminosity stage. Final details of the show are still being finalized.

If you have a youngster not quite ready for the scary stuff, HalloWeekends also offers plenty of things for kids to do, too.

Included with the price of regular park admission, HalloWeekends runs every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from Sept. 14 through Oct. 28.

Signs advertising HalloWeekends have already been placed throughout the park.
