COLUMBUS -- Managers say about 600 workers are laying tile, installing ceiling panels and setting up slot machines to help finish the new Hollywood Casino Columbus in time for the planned opening of the $400 million project on Oct. 8.
The facility is the third and largest of Ohio's four voter-approved casinos.
General Manager Ameet Patel said Monday during a media tour that he's confident the site will be ready by Oct. 3, when its games and facilities will be tested.
He says the casino expects to hire 2,000 people and has received more than twice that many applications.
It sits about 10 miles from Scioto Downs, Ohio's first horse racing track to get slots-like gambling machines.
Casinos already opened in Cleveland and Toledo. The fourth will be in Cincinnati.
