INDEPENDENCE -- It's known around Northeast Ohio for its gourmet grilled cheese. And now, the reputation for Melt Bar & Grilled is growing nationwide with a new honor.
These grilled cheese sandwiches have made their mark on Cleveland in just the six short years since Melt opened its first shop in Lakewood.
Now they're in Cleveland Heights, Independence and working on a fourth restaurant in Mentor.
On top of all the television exposure Melt has had throughout the years, the restaurant has now been ranked as one of the country's top sandwich shops.
USA Today asked its "Road Warriors" and food guidebook publisher Zagat to weigh in on their favorites. Melt gets high food scores, a 26 on Zagat's 30-point scale.
The man behind Melt, Matt Fish, says they aim to open along Mentor Avenue and state Route 306 in October.
The layout will be very similar to what you see in Independence: the sights, sounds, smells and flavors.
Where to next with fans around the nation checking out their wares? Maybe Columbus next year, says Fish.
