MIDDLEFIELD TWP --  The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating an accident that has left one person dead.

Troopers say the fatal accident happened on State Route 528.

At 10 a.m. Friday, a Dodge Ram driven by Ron Folsom, 59, swerved to avoid hitting a vehicle stopped in the road that was making a left turn.

When Folsom swerved to avoid hitting that car, he hit another vehicle head-on.

James E. Stewart, 68, of Middlefield, was driving that other vehicle. He was taken to University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center in Claridon Township where he was pronounced dead by hospital doctors.

Folsom's 27-year-old daughter and 2-year-old grandson were also in the car. The 2-year-old was taken by LifeFlight to Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Alcohol is not believe to be a factor in this accident.
