CUYAHOGA HEIGHTS -- The Ohio Highway Patrol says a 31-year-old man has died after being struck by two vehicles as he tried to cross Interstate 77 on foot.
Investigators say the man had left his vehicle on the southbound shoulder of Interstate 77 in Cuyahoga Heights and he walking across lanes just before 10 p.m. Sunday.
They say he was hit by a vehicle while in the middle lane, then again by another vehicle in the far left southbound lane. The drivers of the other two vehicles, a Sagamore Hills man and a Stow man, were not injured.
Matthew Jakubecz, 31, of Garfield Heights, was pronounced dead at MetroHealth Medical Center. Investigators didn't say why Jakubecz left his vehicle.
