Fugitive wanted in Brunwick attack turns himself in to sheriff

MEDINA -- A Medina man wanted for a vicious attack on an 18-year-old Medina man at a Brunswick apartment complex turned himself in to the Medina County Sheriff's deputies Monday afternoon.

Dayshawn Wheeler, 22, of Medina, charged with attempted murder and aggravated burglary, is accused of breaking into the man's apartment at the Hemlock Court apartments, pistol-whipping him across the head, cracking his skull, and then using a claw hammer to beat him in the abdomen.

He was featured as WKYC's Fugitive of the Week on Aug. 20.

The man managed to crawl to a neighbor's for help. The man was in the hospital for several days.
