INDEPENDENCE, Ohio -- Cleveland played a role in the final night of the Democratic National Convention.
The Obama campaign volunteers from around Northeast Ohio gathered for a special watch party at the Plumber and Pipefitter's Union Hall in Independence.
As people watched the speeches, the crowd at the convention was also watching the volunteers in Independence.
A Skype feed established at the union hall broadcast the watch party onto the jumbo screens inside the Charlotte arena.
Cleveland's watch party was just one of a handful from around the country to be virtually present at the DNC.
Local Obama supporters say the attention to their group showed just how important Ohio will be in the November election.
