SANDUSKY, Ohio -- Hundreds of people gathered by candlelight Sunday to remember Heather Jackson, 23, her daughter Celina, 3, and her 18-month-old son Wayne.
The bodies of the three were discovered Saturday evening after police were called to do a welfare check on the family.
All day Sunday there was an outpouring of sorrow and support for the Sandusky mother and her two young children found dead inside their home.
Friends say Jackson was a loving mom to her two children. While police investigate the suspicious nature of their deaths, family and friends built a memorial on the front steps of the home.
"It was gut-wrenching. When someone tells you your friend is no longer living, plus her two little kids. They were so precious," said friend Ashley Walls.
Walls now hopes to give the family the help they need to give the three a peaceful service and burial.
The Generations Hair Studio at 1822 Milan Rd. in Sandusky is hosting a fundraising event called Hair for Heather. The event runs Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
All of the money raised will go toward burial expenses. Donation jars will be located at various businesses downtown.
