CLEVELAND -- Cleveland Police continue to search for the driver of a black SUV that left the scene of a hit-skip accident.
Shortly before 7 p.m. Friday night, a 12-year-old girl was struck by the SUV at West 31st Street and Denison Avenue.
The girl was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center with severe injuries.
Due to the victim's injuries, the Cleveland Division of Police Accident Investigation Unit responded to the scene.
The preliminary investigation shows that the black SUV was westbound on Denison at West 31st Street when it struck the girl, who was crossing the street.
Crystal Pratts witnessed the crash. Her son was one of four kids, including the girl, who were hit crossing Denison. Pratts says the driver "flew down the street," and added, "he didn't attempt to slow down at all."
After hitting the victim, the SUV failed to stop and continued westbound on Denison.
There is no traffic signal or crosswalk where the victim was crossing the street.
The suspect vehicle has possible front-end damage and damage to the windshield.
