COLUMBUS -- The Ohio Elections Commission plans to further review whether a mailer paid for by the Ohio Republican Party violates state election law.
A panel of the commission on Thursday found probable cause that the mailer contains misleading information on a redistricting ballot issue.
The proposed constitutional amendment would strip state and federal elected officials of map-drawing powers and give them to a 12-person citizen commission.
The group behind a fall ballot push to change Ohio's political map-making process had filed a complaint with the commission alleging the flier is inaccurate.
The complaint took issue with three statements in the mailer. The panel was divided on two of the statements. It unanimously found probable cause on one, that some members of a citizen commission would be chosen "in secret."
