CLEVELAND --- A police probe is now looking at whether Cleveland police officers took guns and gun parts from their shooting range and sold them online.
The Investigator Tom Meyer reported two days ago that a city audit found a total lack of oversight of guns and ammunition at the police outdoor shooting range on West 58th Street.
Now we learn the audit was requested because of an irregularity.
Cleveland City Councilman Kevin Conwell says Police Chief Michael McGrath asked for the audit on the suspicion an officer was selling parts to firearms.
Conwell's council safety committe intends to review the matter at its next meeting in October.
