Akron: Pizza delivery driver attacked, man shot

AKRON -- Police are seeking those involved in a pair of robberies Saturday night.

The first happened around 9:30 p.m. when a Pizza Hut delivery driver was attacked by two men.

According to police, the worker was struck in the back of the head with an unknown object as he tried to deliver food in the 700 block of Gem Avenue.

The victim reportedly fell to the ground and the suspects went through his pockets, stealing $30 in cash before running off.

The delivery driver suffered minor injuries and refused treatment from paramedics.

The second incident happened around 10 p.m. when a 24-year-old man was shot while walking along the 800 block of Carlysle Street.

The victim reported he had been approached by two men in all dark clothing who demanded money. When he told them he had no money, the victim said one suspect pulled out a gun and shot him in the left arm before running off.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening.
