CLEVELAND -- Cuyahoga County is responding to Cleveland and inner ring suburbs' addiction to heroin.
On Wednesday, Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald, along with Cuyahoga County Sheriff Bob Reid and the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner Thomas P. Gilson, will announce a countywide heroin initiative.
Due to the dramatic increase in use, sales and deaths due to the powerfully addictive drug, county leaders see the problem as an epidemic.
Heroin use is up among young people in the suburbs and cities.
Investigators say it is cheaper and more available than even alcohol.
The initiative promises to attack the problem at several levels.
WKYC's Dave Summers will have more on the story starting at 6.
