ASHTABULA -- The Ashtabula County Animal Protective League is overcrowded but many people are stepping forward to help.

Since first broadcasting the story, ninety dogs have been adopted.

The total number of dogs that were adopted is much more than what was needed to avoid mass euthanasia.

At an adoption event in Mentor on Saturday, many more showed up wanting to give dogs good homes.

Thirty-one dogs were brought into the shelter at a time the shelter was already over capacity. The shelter said some of the dogs were facing possible euthanasia if new homes could not be found.

All animals are neutered/spayed before they go to new homes.
