SOLON -- An Avon woman has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident and operating a vehicle while intoxicated following an incident just before midnight Tuesday.

Police say Melissa Ault, 32, of Avon, was arrested and charged with OVI and leaving the scene of an accident after striking a Solon Fire vehicle and a guardrail on U.S. 422, then leaving the scene.

Police say a Good Samaritan witness followed Ault to Lee and Deforest roads, where she stopped and the witness went and removed the keys from Ault's car and waited for Warrensville Heights police to arrive.

Ault refused a breath test. The Solon Fire vehicle she struck was on the scene of a separate, earlier accident.

There were no injuries.
