CLEVELAND -- Firefighters responded to a Hillman Avenue address where two houses and two garages were involved in a fire Thursday night.
Three firefighters were injured in the blaze. Two received burns to the face and neck and were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center. The third was taken to Fairview Hospital with head and back trauma.
Their conditions are not known at this time.
According to Cleveland Fire spokesman Larry Gray, the fire started in the garage of a vacant home. From there it spread to the home itself and to another garage and occupied home on an adjacent property.
The second two-family home had six occupants. All were accounted for and are receiving assistance from Red Cross.
Fire investigators estimate that there was about $45,000 worth of damage done to the two properties.
Investigators are looking into the cause of the blaze and are calling it "suspicious" at this time.
