DANBURY TOWNSHIP -- A Rocky River woman is in the hospital Sunday morning after an accident involving a train.
The Sandusky Post of the Ohio State Patrol tells Channel 3 that the accident happened just before 5 a.m. Sunday morning.
The car of Tiffany Fischer, 33, of Rocky River, broke down on the rail road tracks at South Danbury Road in Ottawa County. A Norfolk and Southern train was coming from the west when Fischer tried to signal the train engineer to stop the train.
The engineer could not stop the 72-car train in time before hitting Fischer's car. The train spun the car out of control. The car and Fischer were pushed off of the railroad tracks by the train.
Fisher was taken by LifeFlight to the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo where she is in serious condition.
The accident is under investigation to figure out why the car was stopped on the railroad tracks. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident.
