COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Political allies of President Barack Obama are lining up against a Pepper Pike-based mining company whose employees were featured in a TV ad by Republican Mitt Romney.
Liberal policy group ProgressOhio filed a Federal Election Commission complaint Monday against Murray Energy Corp.
It alleges Murray left the required disclaimer off its anti-Obama yard signs. The signs read: "STOP the WAR on COAL - FIRE OBAMA."
Also Monday, the Ohio Democratic Party asked prosecutors to investigate Murray for potential fundraising violations and employee coercion.
Murray said in a statement that its Democratic opponents are attempting to silence the company as it speaks out against Obama policies that it says hurt coal mining employees and families.
