AKRON -- Halloween is still a few weeks away, but there's a big celebration of the haunted holiday screaming to life this weekend.
Every year, Claude DeBord hosts a massive alcohol-absent, family friendly community Halloween festival -- and it's completely free.
This year's spooktacular marks his 17th annual monster bash.
Since he first started throwing the Halloween extravaganza, it has grown exponentially. This year's event includes more than 150 special guests including TV's Big Chuck and Little John, fire dancers, paranormal investigators, live bands, jugglers, belly dancers, fortune tellers and martial artists.
Halloween 2012: Expanded coverage
Loads of hearses and other creepy cars perfect for the Halloween season make a pit stop at the party for guests to gaze at.
The event takes DeBord nearly all year to plan.
Although DeBord's Halloween party has no admission fee, there are vendors on site selling various items.
Food and drinks will also be available.
List: Local trick-or-treat times 2012
If you're interested in going to this year's party, it takes place from 2-10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13 at the VFW Hall at 690 W. Waterloo Rd. in Akron.
Everybody who comes is asked to wear a costume.
