LITCHFIELD TOWNSHIP -- The Ohio Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle, serious injury crash.
The crash occurred about 7:22 p.m. Monday at the intersection of State Route 83 and Smith Road.
It occured when a 1992 Chevy Pickup, driven by Lawrence Brandel, 69, of Wadsworth, was traveling east on Smith Road and failed to stop at a stop sign.
It was then struck by a 1999 Ford Pickup driven by John Laplante, 49, of Grafton.
The impact of the collision caused the vehicle driven by Brandel to go off the right side of the roadway, striking a utility pole.
Laplante was taken to Lodi Hospital where he was treated and released.
Deputies say Laplante was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Brandel was also taken to Lodi Hospital where he was then taken by LifeFlight to Akron City Hospital with serious injuries.
It is unknown at this time if Brandel was wearing his seatbelt. Alcohol or drugs are not a factor in the crash.
