CLEVELAND -- Schools and offices in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District will reopen on Wednesday, but 23 CMSD schools without power will remain closed:
Those that remain CLOSED are:
Carl and Louis Stokes
Cleveland School of the Arts @ Harry E. Davis
Franklin D. Roosevelt
H. Barbara Booker
John Marshall @ Carl F. Shuler
Louisa May Alcott
Oliver Hazard Perry
CEO Eric Gordon said he realizes schools district-wide are likely to have lower attendance than normal Wednesday as many homes throughout the city are still without power.
He made the decision to reopen schools that have power not only in the interest of restoring learning, but also in consideration of the students and families CMSD serves.
"We anticipate that, in light of the circumstances, many families will be grateful that we are open and able to provide a safe, caring place for their children as parents return to work," said Gordon.
"By opening the majority of our schools, even as we restore power in 23 of our facilities, our families remain in charge of their own decisions and can choose to keep their children home or send them to school as best meets their needs and circumstances."
