CLEVELAND -- Trade with China and out sourcing jobs are controversial topics among political contenders from both sides of the aisle...but did one candidate go too far?
The organization of Chinese Americans of Greater Cleveland is asking the Ohio Republican Party to pull what they consider an offensive campaign ad.
The ad looks like a Chinese restaurant menu. It criticizes Congresswoman Betty Sutton, using Asian food items.
It accuses Sutton of out-sourcing jobs to China.
Cleveland-area Asian community leaders say the campaign is offensive and historically inaccurate.
Renacci gave his blessing to this ad. Renacci's camp responded to our questions in a statement, declaring Sutton's voting record offensive.
"We really need to get back to focusing on the messages and all the key points each candidate has to offer," Executive Director of Asian Services in Action Mike Byon said.
The Renacci campaign has not directly responded to the letter written by local Asian leaders. There are 66,000 Asian-Americans living here in the Greater Cleveland Metropolitan area.
