After a long and arduous campaign, candidates' opinions give way to those of the voters.
"Getting out and getting your voice heard is very important on this day," says April Robertson, a voter from Garfield Heights.
"It's a chance to actually say something," adds 27-year-old voter Chris Suazo.
We get our stay by casting a ballot, and, for many Americans, it's seen not only as a right, but a duty.
"It's an obligation of all citizens to participate," says Dr. Ernesto Ortiz. "It is something the democratic process if based on."
By stepping up to a voting booth, Americans could stand up for what he or she believed was right for our country.
"I want to know I did something," says Robertson. "So that when I speak up, I can at least say I did my part. I voted."
By doing just that, we each made a mark on history.
