President Obama not only won re-election, but has also taken a Twitter record away from pop star Justin Bieber.

According to multiple sources, a photo of President Obama hugging his wife with the words "Four more years" has become the most re-tweeted image in the social media site's history.

The image was posted late Tuesday, and as of 1 p.m. on Wednesday, the image has been re-tweeted nearly 700,000 times with more than 235,000 likes. says Justin Bieber held the number one re-tweet spot until the Obama image was posted Tuesday. Bieber is now in second place for most re-tweets from a message he posted in September regarding the death of Avalanna Routh, who was known as his 6-year-old "wife."

Overall, Twitter says election-related tweets surged at a peak of 327,452 tweets per minute at one point during election night.
