COVENTRY TOWNSHIP -- A political argument heats up after an Akron man throws his coffee at a Republican party volunteer outside a polling station.
John Pegley, 58, is accused of throwing a hot cup of coffee at the volunteer Tuesday morning. The volunteer was displaying a list of Republican candidates on a sign in front of a Coventry Township polling station.
The volunteer says Pegley was yelling obscenities while driving by him. The victim told Pegley he was within his rights to be 100 feet from a polling station.
The suspect allegedly responded by throwing his cup of coffee on the victim.
Summit County Sheriff's deputies served Pegley a summons to appear in court on a charge of misdemeanor assault.
