CLEVELAND - A call to check an open door at a downtown Cleveland building led police to a suspected marijuana growing operation.
Just before 8 p.m. Tuesday, Gregory Scott, of Cleveland, surrendered to Third District Vice Detectives.
He has been charged with the cultivation of marijuana and will appear in Cleveland Municipal Court at 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
Police received the call just before 3 a.m. for the building at East 24th and Lakeside Avenue. Once on scene officers reported a strong odor of marijuana. While checking the building, police say they saw marijuana plants inside.
A search warrant executed at the building turned up more than 100 pot plants and marijuana cultivating equipment. Some of the plants were described as being five to six feet in height.
The building was unoccupied at the time of the search.
