EASTLAKE -- An Eastlake man has been charged with felonious assault for allegedly attempting to run over his wife as she held their baby in her arms.
Police say they were called to E. 348th Street just after 9 p.m. Nov. 10 after a woman called and said her husband attempted to run her and their child over with a truck.
She said she called him to ask him to take their baby son to the hospital.
He arrived and the police said they began to argue and he told her to have someone else take them.
As she was getting ready to go, her husband pulled into the driveway, they continued arguing, and then she headed towards her front door.
The police report says the husband began revving up the truck while she was in front of it, he then "peeled out," chasing her to the front door with the truck.
She told police she had to run for the house with the baby in her arms.
Her husband drove away before police arrived. Police photographed the tire marks at the home.
Police found the husband, Mark Demarco, 29, and he said that his wife threw a full can of pop at him and struck him in the mouth and, that after being struck by the pop can, he retaliated, but would not elaborate on what that "retaliation" was.
Police said he had no visible injuries.
Demarco was charged with two counts of felonious assault and held without bond until court arraignment.
Demarco was arraigned via video from the Eastlake City Jail in Willoughby Municipal Court Tuesday morning where he pleaded not guilty to the charges.
His bond was set at $10,000, he failed to make bond, and has had a public defender appointed to defend him.
His next court appearance is a preliminary hearing at 1 p.m. Nov. 19 and he is not to have any contact with his wife or their two children.
