PALM COVE, Australia - A rare full solar eclipse sent Queensland, Australia, into darkness for about two minutes Wednesday.

Authorities warned spectators to wear safety goggles since the sun's rays remain incredibly powerful, even when hidden behind the moon.

While North Queensland had a full eclipse at 6:39 a.m. local time, other parts of Australia experienced a partial eclipse.

The last full solar eclipse visible from Australia was in 2002, an event that was only visible in the nation's south.
