Her next court appearance, a preliminary hearing, is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Police were called at 1:15 a.m. Friday by a 13-year-old in the home.
Police arrived and entered the home and say they found Zunich covered in blood and holding a knife, police said.
Zunich was taken to Lake West Hospital.
Police then found Knoefel in the first-floor master bedroom with several stab wounds.
EMS crews pronounced her dead at the scene.
When Zunich was released from lake West, police took her into custody.
