MAPLE HEIGHTS -- The suspect in Sunday's shooting turned himself in to Maple Heights police at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Police say Kelvin A. Mathis Jr., 27, of Glenwillow, turned himself in at the Maple Heights Police Department, accompanied by his attorney.  Mathis was taken into custody without incident.

He will be arraigned on charges later this week.

Police say Mathis is the suspect in the 2:30 a.m. Sunday shooting of Marion Alexander, 26, of Cleveland. Alexander was shot multiple times and was taken to Marymount Hospital where he died.

Alexander was at a party on Rochelle Drive where a fight broke out and shots were fired. He was bleeding and found lying on the ground.

As a result of the initial investigation, a warrant for murder was issued.

Police went to his home to arrest him Monday but he was not there.
