HOBSONVILLE, New Zealand - Cameras were rolling when a rare tornado tore through New Zealand's largest city.
Three people were killed in the storm and more than 250 people had to be evacuated after the tornado struck.
The small tornado hit the suburbs of Auckland during a midday storm. Numerous buildings were destroyed. Trees were uprooted, and there were massive power outages.
The tornado was the deadliest in new zealand in more than 60 years.
Although the country reports about seven tornados on average each year, most are small and do little damage.
