PARMA -- An 18-year-old is facing multiple felony charges after fleeing from police and crashing a stolen car during a chase.
An officer spotted the car just before 2 a.m. on Chevrolet Boulevard. Police say the car was speeding and had its bright lights on.
When the officer turned on his lights and siren to make a traffic stop, the driver fled accelerating to nearly 75 miles per hour. The car took a right on Snow Road and crashed into a utility box.
Police say the car had been reported stolen.
The 18 year-old driver and two passengers, ages 16 and 15, were treated and released at the hospital for minor injuries.
The crash severely damaged the traffic signal box at the intersection of Snow Road and Chevrolet Boulevard. It's estimated the signal will be out for several days until repairs are made. Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible as delays are expected.
