CHICAGO -- For those who thought Twinkies would be around forever, think again.
The final shipment of the famous Hostess treat was delivered to a grocery store in Chicago Tuesday morning. Customers there were ready and quickly snapped up the last boxes of the cream-filled sweet treat from the shelves at grocer Jewel-Osco.
Twinkies first began flying off the shelves last month when Hostess brands announced it would be going out of business, closing all 36 bakeries nationwide.
The announcement came after an unresolved labor dispute with workers at the company.
Grocer Jewel-Osco received 20,000 boxes of Hostess products today after Hostess offered the store the chance to buy the last and final supply of Hostess products.
