CLEVELAND -- The investigation into the deadly Cleveland police chase that ended with two people being shot to death is now in the hands of the state attorney general.

It's no accident that details of that investigation are not being released yet to the public.

Daily updates on the progress of the investigation from the police department and Mayor Frank Jackson have stopped.

While details of the investigation have gone quiet, community unrest is growing louder. Mistrust between members of the African-American community and Cleveland police have local leaders calling for a federal probe.

The 25-minute police chase ended in East Cleveland where 13 police officers -- 12 of them white -- shot 137 bullets into Timothy Russell's car, killing him and passenger Malissa Williams.

Ward Councilman Zack Reed says details such as whether test results indicate the suspects fired a gun at the police, which supposedly started this chase, are essential to building public trust.

Olivet Institutional Baptist Church Pastor Jawanza Karriem Colvin penned a letter to the civil division of the U.S. Department of Justice, asking for help.
