Cyclone Evan hits Samoa hard

APIA, Samoa - A state of disaster's been declared in Samoa after cyclone Evan.

Most of the damage has been caused by fallen trees that have brought down power lines with some houses losing their roofs.

There've been no official reports of deaths or injuries.

The New Zealand high commissioner in Samoa told one news a short time ago that there is widespread flooding.

Most roads into Apia have been cut off due to extensive flooding many areas are currently being evacuated.

Air New Zealand cancelled a flight today but will put on an extra trip tomorrow night.
