WAYNE COUNTY-- The Wayne County Sheriff's Office plans to teach teachers in school safety.
The announcement came from Sheriff Thomas Maurer's blog.
"We must get away from the 'lock the door and hope the bad guys goes away' mentality," said Sheriff Maurer.
In an effort to stop school violence, the Sheriff plans to initiate the program A.L.I.C.E. better known as Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate.
The program takes a look at different methods to stop intruders from causing harm to faculty, teachers and students, in case a problem occurs.
