Reunion - A tropical cyclone lashed the Indian Ocean island of Reunion Thursday.
The storm reportedly left tens of thousands of homes in the French territory without power. Both of the island's airports closed, and shipping was at a standstill. Some roads flooded, but so far no serious injuries have been reported.
Around 800, 000 people live on Reunion, but hundreds of thousands of tourists visit every year. People were warned to stock up on emergency supplies and remain indoors during the storm.
Dumile is expected to intensify later Thursday, but the eye is forecast to remain offshore.
The storm is moving south between Reunion and Madagascar, located off the southeast coast of Africa.
