DUNALLEY, Australia - A wildfire has nearly burned a town on the Australian island of Tasmania right off the map.
Flames tore through Dunalley, a small tourist destination on the Tasman Peninsula.
Firefighters say at least 65 houses are destroyed, along with the town police station, a school and several businesses. Power is also out for many residents who still have their homes.
Some survivors say they fled to the beach and had to jump in the water just to escape the fast-moving fire. Fortunately, authorities say no one was killed.
