AKRON -- Akron General Hospital is offering free sessions regarding weight loss surgery options, along with the latest heartburn treatments over the next two months.
Three free public information sessions led by surgeon and Bariatric Center Medical Director Walter Chlysta, MD, FACS, will be held on Tuesday Jan. 22 at 6 p.m. in the main board room at Akron General Medical Center; Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. in the board room at Lodi Community Hospital; and Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 6 p.m. at the Akron General Medical Center.
The health risks and long-term affects of obesity have become an increasing problem in Americans, estimating more than 35 percent of people are obese, says the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
There will also be a free information session regarding heartburn solutions and treatments on Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. in the Summit Room at Akron General's Health & Wellness Center.
The session will be led by a team of experts including Charudutt Paranjape, MD, Richard Salvino, MD, and William Papouras, MD, to discuss the latest treatment options available ranging from medical management, to minimally invasive surgery and other treatment options.
