Parma man sentenced to life in prison in grandparents' killing

CLEVELAND -- Court records show Judge John Russo sentenced Anthony King, 29, of Parma, to life in prison with parole eligibilty after 30 years for killing his grandparents.

His grandparents -- Jim King, 75, and Wava King, 72 -- were killed at their Virginia Avenue home in Cleveland in April.

According to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office, each died from blunt impact to their heads.

The wife was found on the couch in the living room and the husband was found in the basement.

King also stole his grandparents' car after the murders.

On April 23, prosectors said King beat his grandparents with a pipe wrench.

Later April 23, Parma Police located the stolen vehicle traveling southbound on State Road being operated by Anthony King.

The vehicle was stopped and King was detained without incident.

On Nov. 30, King pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated murder, one count of aggravated burglary, two counts of aggravated robbery, two counts of kidnapping, one count of grand theft of a motor vehicle and one count of tampering with evidence.
