WESTLAKE -- An employee has been charged with the assault and neglect of a group home resident with a mental disability.

Tamika J. Love, 32, a caregiver for Community Quality Care which provides care for the home, was indicted on charges of assault and patient abuse and neglect in connection with the alleged incident which police say took place on Dec. 9 on Westwood Road.

Westlake Poilce say Love could not calm down a 19-year-old resident who was having a "behavior incident," so she locked the teenager outside without a jacket for about 45 minutes.  Love was fired by the manager of the home because of the incident.

The resident was taken the next day to an urgent care center for treatment of the bruises she suffered on her hands from pounding on the windows to be let back in.

The high temperature on Dec. 9 was 55 degrees and the low was 36 degrees.

The Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities is investigating the alleged assault, which falls under the category of a "major unusual incident."
