MEDINA, Ohio -- An analysis of state job data has concluded that Ohio is losing high-tech jobs, as many high-pay industries are shedding workers rather than increasing jobs.

The Medina Gazette says its analysis of data compiled by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services shows that employment has declined in 24 of 30 industries categorized by the state as both high technology and high wage.

The net loss over the decade totaled about 120,000 jobs. That's nearly a quarter of the approximately half-million employed in those industries in 2000.

Some experts say slower job growth and higher unemployment have become the norm and many of the lost jobs will never return. But others say there will be new jobs taking their place.
