TRUMBULL CO --  2 officers made some children's day after they lost everything in an apartment fire.

Saturday morning emergency crews were dispatched to 723 Lakeview Drive for a fire.  When crews arrived on scene flames could be seen coming from the center apartments.

No one was injured in the fire but 3 kids were left without clothing as they stood in the cold.

Officer Steve Orselene from the Cortland Police Department took it upon himself to buy clothing for the children who were waiting with their family for the American Red Cross to arrive.

The officer bought socks, pants, shirts, shoes and underwear for each child.

Another officer from Bazetta Police Department heard about the children and went to the area store asking for help.  The officer was able to get money donated for the children to receive coats, gloves and mittens.

The fire remains under investigation.
