Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Miles Cartwright scored a game-high 22
points in leading the Penn Quakers to a 62-58 victory over the Columbia Lions
in Ivy League action at the Palestra.
Cartwright was just 6-of-14 from the floor but hit all 10 shots from the
free-throw line while Darien Nelson-Henry added 11 points for Penn (4-15,
1-1 Ivy League) which had lost 10 of its previous 11 games.
Brian Barbour scored 21 points and Mark Cisco added 15 for Columbia (9-8,
1-2) which has lost three of its last four.
Both teams struggled to shoot the ball in the first half. Penn hit 38.1
percent of its shots from the field and 9-of-10 from the free-throw line to
earn the 26-19 advantage at halftime. Columbia connected on just 25 percent
of its first half field goal attempts.
After halftime each team shot at a 42.9 percent clip but the Quakers were
able to hold on by nailing 17-of-19 shots from the charity stripe.
Columbia lost despite a 39-26 edge in rebounds. Penn outscored Columbia
26-17 from the free-throw line.
