Lawrence Twp: Man pulled from blaze by firefighters

LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP -- An elderly man was rescued from his burning home Saturday night. 

Emergency crews were called after a passerby noticed a fire at the Erie Avenue NW home. They received the call around 10:40 p.m.

Police officers were first to arrive at the scene and noticed a man who was trapped on the second floor.

When fire crews arrived, they were able to reach the man using ladders. The victim was taken to Mercy Medical Center for treatment. His injuries were described as "non-life threatening."

While the fire is believed to be an accident, its cause is under investigation by the Stark County Arson Task Force.

Fire Departments responding to the scene included Canal Fulton, Lawrence Twp., Jackson Twp., Perry, Clinton & North Lawrence Volunteer.
