CLEVELAND -- A man has been charged with aggravated vehicular homicide in the death of a pedestrian.
Nicholas Carter, 33, of Cleveland is scheduled to make an appearance in court Thursday morning on the charge.
Police say that just after 4 p.m. Tuesday, they received a call for a pedestrian struck at E. 142nd Street and Kinsman Avenue.
Upon arrival on the scene, police were told Cleveland EMS had taken the woman, now identified as Candase Moore, 25, of Cleveland to Meridia South Pointe Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
The preliminary investigation shows that a red 2006 Mitsubishi pickup truck was driving southbound on E. 142nd Street south of Kinsman Avenue and struck Moore, who was walking in the street southbound.
After hitting Moore, the Mitsubishi remained on the scene. That's when police say the driver of the Mitsubishi was seen throwing a liquor bottle out of the vehicle into a snow bank.
The liquor bottle was recovered.
