EASTLAKE -- Just after 7 p.m. Friday, a police cruiser was on Vine Street at E. 343rd Street waiting for the red light when a minivan exiting the Vineyards sat through the green light, then accelerated rapidly to try to make it through after it had already turned red.
Police say the driver, 24, of Eastlake, and the passenger, a Mentor man, 26, were identified. The passenger was arrested on a felony warrant from Wickliffe police department for drug possession, issued a citation for marijuana found on his person and turned over to Wickliffe.
The driver was cited for the traffic light and possession of marijuana that was located in plain view in a basket between the two front seats.
Unused syringes located in the vehicle were disposed of due to both men admitting to police that they were to be used to shoot heroin.
