STRONGSVILLE -- More twists and turns on day 3 of the Strongsville teachers' strike.

The president of the Strongsville teachers union and the superintendent met Wednesday evening as a show of good faith between the two sides. The meeting was at the office of a federal mediator.  The meeting was described as an exploratory conversation.

After 90 minutes, both sides left the meeting.  According to a release from the district, both sides remain substantially divided on key issues. As a result there are no new talks scheduled with the mediator.

On Tuesday both the union and district expressed hopes that the strike could be resolved quickly.

The strike is taking an emotional toll on the teachers, the administration, parents and students. Parents want the situation returned to normal as soon as possible at the schools.

Tempers are also flaring.  Earlier Wednesday a teacher was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after police say he refused to comply with repeated orders to keep a driveway at a middle school clear.
