CLEVELAND -- About 8 a.m. Tuesday, members of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Eugene Yates, 30.
Yates was wanted by the Cleveland Police Department for rape. It is alleged that Yates repeatedly raped a child over the course of several years before it was reported to police.
The alleged abuse began when the child was 11 years old.
During the NOVFTF investigation, an attempt to locate Yates was made at his last known address on Royal Road. The investigators learned that Yates had moved from the home the previous day.
The search then narrowed to the 1000 Block of East 141st Street Tuesday morning.
Yates was located there and arrested by the task force without incident, then turned over to the Cleveland Police Department and taken to the Cleveland City Jail.
U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, "Those who commit crimes against children are a top priority for the NOVFTF and the United States Marshals Service. We will use all of our resources to apprehend these offenders and prevent them from harming more children."
