CLEVELAND -- Amid his recent arrest for allegedly driving under the influence, Councilman Zack Reed will be holding his 13th State of Ward 2 address on Tuesday, March 26.

A press release indicates the speech will focus on five key topics:

  • Development: Updates on the new fire station, Miles Point & 131st Street development projects, the Log Cabin and two TLC grants.
  • Education: Convening of 26 principals and educators from all Ward 2 schools to focus on a South East transformation plan.
  • Safety: Security cameras coming to Warner Road this spring.
  • Recreation: $200-$250 million in bonds will be available for recreation in Cleveland over the next five years. Councilman Reed will be a vocal proponent to bring funding to Ward 2.
  • Seniors: Housing initiatives to help Ward 2 seniors remain in their homes and maintain and protect their investment.

The annual speech will begin at 6 p.m. at the New Light Missionary Baptist Church at 12700 Corlett Avenue.

Reed was arrested at 1:44 a.m. on March 5 near East 9th Street and Rockwell Avenue, marking the third time in less than eight years he has faced drunken-driving charges.
